# Archive account

> Make a child account inactive without deleting its history

`POST /api/v2/accounts/{customerId}/archive`

Archives a child account under your organization. The account becomes inactive and cannot be selected, but its campaigns, media buys, reporting, members, terms records, and lifecycle history remain stored.

You must be an administrator on the parent organization, and you cannot archive the account you are currently using. Archive is refused if a live campaign or an executable or unsettled media buy still exists. Use [Preview account archive](/v2/buyer/account/tasks/preview-account-archive) to see every blocker.

Archive does not free a contracted account slot. Use hard delete only for an empty child account that should be removed permanently.
